Hi, For years, the big joint of my right big toe has clicked badly but never caused any pain. More recently, however, it's been getting extremely painful, stiff and sometimes becomes swollen. I can hardly bend it at all. I went to the GP and she said I have a bunion. I was surprised to hear this as, from what I understand, bunions cause a lump and can make the toe angle inward (like Victoria Beckham). My right foot looks exactly the same as my left. No lump or funny angles! Also, I have never worn high heels. How does the doctor know it's not something else like arthritis? Does anyone know if exercise makes things worse? Please Help.
